Dr. VanDan
Optometrist
Born and raised in San Diego, Dr. Danny VanDan has worked in optometry for over 25 years. His journey in eyecare began right after high school, working in private practices as front desk, optician, technician, and office manager. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in General Biology at the University of California, San Diego, he earned his Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois, graduating with honors in 2013.
Dr. VanDan’s clinical experience spans independent offices, corporate settings, large optometric groups, VA hospitals, and school-based eyecare. His accolades include Colleague of the Year (2010), Cribb Leadership and Service (2013), Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society (2013), and People’s Choice Award for Optometrist, Lamar, CO (2014).
After moving to Denver, CO, Dr. VanDan quickly fell in love with the beauty of the state and the woman who would become his wife. Now based in Centennial, Colorado, he is grateful to call Colorado home and is committed to building meaningful, lifelong relationships with the patients and families he serves.
As the proud father of three young children, two daughters and a son, Dr. VanDan understands how quickly life changes through its many milestones. That perspective inspires the care he provides every day. Whether helping a child see clearly for the first time, guiding a patient through cataract surgery, or preserving a senior's independence through healthy vision, he believes it is a privilege to be part of each person's journey.
Beyond the exam room, Dr. VanDan is passionate about mentoring future optometrists, training fellow doctors, and giving back to the community. He regularly speaks at senior centers, participates in health fairs, volunteers at his children's schools, and partners with local organizations to improve access to eyecare.
Dr. VanDan is also proud to support his wife, a dedicated leader in Denver's Asian American community who leads a local magazine and a nonprofit organization devoted to preserving and celebrating Asian American culture.
At the heart of everything he does is a simple belief: exceptional eyecare is about more than helping people see better. It is about caring for people through every milestone in life.
